Sea of White on St. Margaret's Bay

If you've travelled along the shore of St. Margaret's Bay between Tantallon and Peggy's Cove over the last week, you've probably seen the more than 150 Laser sailboats that have been racing in the World Laser Sailing Championships.

Sailors from around the world have been competing with each other through calm, fog, a hurricane and the odd fine day for nearly a week, but the forecast for the next several days is looking good and the competition is heating up. Next week, when the Laser master champions compete, another 100 boats or so will be added to the mix and the sea of white sails that covers the bay in daylight hours will swell accordingly.

Even from the shore, the sleek craft present an amazing sight by their sheer numbers. Up close, the sights and sounds of world-class competiton is even more exciting. Take a look at some of the images I captured from a chase boat.
