Planning a trip to Nova Scotia is exciting. We are always overwhelmed by the almost endless opportunities we encounter while sitting and preparing a vacation to Canada's Ocean Playground. We absolutely understand - people living in Nova Scotia have to be proud of their province by nature.

How to approach all the things to do and see? We have to say: "Sorry, we don't know!" - When we plan a short trip like for a week or longer lets say for about several weeks or even a month - we always run out of time to please anybody we meet and anyplace we love to visit.

There are so many places which are famous and popular - those you should not miss while traveling around Nova Scotia. In regards to this, it is stunning that you will not find a real good guidebook about Nova Scotia, at least not here at German bookstores or at one of the great online bookshelves. Nova Scotia is commonly only mentioned in some guidebooks that cover multiple Canadian provinces and naming Nova Scotia only with a few pages or a chapter. A good reason to this might be that the "Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage" is releasing every year, a fresh copy of the "Doers' and Dreamers' Guide". It is an essential source with thousands of travel tips - well structured and sorted into travel regions. And the good news are - it is a free booklet! You can visit the website NovaScotia.com to order your travel guide or contact the tourism department people to assist you with your travel plans.

Currently we are on our final stage planning our "Nova Scotia Dream Vacation" which will start in just a few weeks from now. We can't wait to go! Our first draft was made by selecting the appropriate travel time and researching for events that would take place during our travel period. We gathered places we haven't seen thus far and those we would love to see and also those places we would love to see again. We marked all of them with a red pin on our Nova Scotia map that came with the "Doers' and Dreamers' Guide". Depending on the time of the events we planned to attend, like the 2010 Pumpkin Regatta in Windsor or concerts at Cape Breton's Celtic Colours Festival and not at least the trails we planned to hike, the route itself assembled together like a puzzle.

We will start in Halifax and the following spots are just a few en route that we will visit: Herring Cove, Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Liverpool, Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct, Shelburne, Barrington Woolen Mill, Cape Sable Island, Shag Harbour, Cape Forchu, Yarmouth, Sandfort, Gilbert Cove, Digby, Brier Island, Bear River, Kejimkujik National Park, Cape Blomindon, Cape Split, Halls Harbour, Windsor, Five Island Park, Cape d'Or, Cape Chignecto, Joggins, Oxford, Balmoral Grist Mill, Sutherland Steam Mill, Tatamagouche, Merigomish, Cape George, Dundee, Baddeck, Ingonish, Neils Harbour, Pleasant Bay, Cheticamp, Margaree, Inverness, Mabou, Port Hood and Judique.

There are so many places that we will miss, some of them are very popular and some are precious hidden gems, but as said before, we only have a limited time to explore the province. But we love to stay a while here and there to justice the nature, wildlife, scenic views and landscapes. Time we use to meet old friends and to make new ones, time to get to know new people and places around Nova Scotia, time to enjoy tranquility to refuel our minds, to relax and explore.

With the help of the "Doers' and Dreamers' Guide" and the assistance of the "Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage" we had so much possibilities that it was hard to reject things. Due to a limited travel time we had reduce our wish list, but the good thing is that this list will keep us coming back. The plentiful tips and recommendations we got were really busting our expectations and the people helping us topped this again and again. Nova Scotia has so much to offer regardless of your habits and needs, we are pretty sure anyone would find more than just a few things that would make it worth to travel to Nova Scotia again and again. We are sure this vacation will be one of those great experiences and vacations that we will never ever forget.

We are more than happy and thankful to be in Nova Scotia in just a few weeks and it is a great honor and pleasure to be allowed to post some of our Nova Scotia experiences while traveling to share these gorgeous moments with you.
