The only hard thing about these resolutions is deciding which ones should be on our list for the year. It's never too late to make your own travel resolutions, so if you're in need of a few, here are some of ours for 2014 - along with suggestions on how you can make them happen.
Nova Scotians have long known Cape Breton to be a golf destination, ever since the first round was played on a former Sydney pasture in 1895. However, the rest of the world is starting to discover just why we call the following six courses the "Spectacular Six". With golf that will both challenge and delight you, you'll find these courses to be on par with the amazing views they offer. You might even get to do some whale watching while you tee off.
The end of summer in Nova Scotia is just the start of another amazing season. Heading out on a road trip among the bright yellows, oranges, and reds is one of our favourite things to do. Our annual Leaf Watch keeps track of where the leaves look their most colourful and give us inspiration to head out in search of the best fall has to offer. From to a day trip to the Annapolis Valley to pick apples or a weekend getaway to drive the Cabot Trail, there's no shortage of things to do in fall.
Off we went to Margaree Harbour Beach with our youngest, our Spike (dog) and I for an evening of relaxation. You can't imagine walking in the cool sand, watching the waves roll in and finding the neatest looking driftwood. There are lots of great shaped looking rocks to climb and a sunset that is worth more than one can put into words.
This walk follows the brook all the way to the end and the sound of the water takes all your cares away! When you finally make your way to the end the view is amazing! There is not one but two waterfalls that await you.
We went on a beautiful sunny day last August, and it was fairly quiet on the greens. We'd missed the morning rush and the evening crowd. Ben and D tried to show me the ropes, so to speak. Knees bent, head down, follow through - all the usual advice. I had other plans... My version of golf (for the first few holes) was to whack the ball as hard as I could and see what direction it went in.
One day my Mom & Dad (he's the good looking guy in the pictures) were exploring the Cabot Trail and they took me to a great little spot called Black Brook Beach!
Life is about enjoying experiences. Take time in 2010 to slow down and enjoy life. Many activities and challenges can be done locally or nearby. Get to know yourself and Nova Scotia better. Cherish those memories, take pictures and record those experiences.
