Nova Scotia has some interesting Christmas traditions - one of the oldest of which is the annual sending of one of its most grandiose trees to Boston, Massachusetts. This tree illuminates downtown over the holidays in recognition of the many ways Bostonians assisted Nova Scotia's capital city, Halifax, during a massive munitions ship explosion in 1917.
This year a 15 metre (50 foot) white spruce was the tree of choice and it was just transported to Boston via the "Princess of Acadia" (the ferry across Bay of Fundy from Digby, Nova Scotia, to Saint John, New Brunswick). A prestigious guest on a delightful Bay adventure on its way to being enjoyed and appreciated by our neighbours in Boston!
That’s nice to definitely locate a site where the blogger is knowledgable.
Yes, the tree is appreciated in Boston. Every year on all of the local news outlets, it's announced that the tree is from NS.
