Some people collect stamps, some coins, but I confess to collecting high-low tide sets of photos. A few trips along the Bay of Fundy shore to Advocate Harbour in the past couple weeks and, viola, the right light and tide times to capture this perfect set of before & after tide photos at its tidal harbour. These pretty little harbours (there are several around the bay!) are the perfect spot for gaining an instant understanding of the vertical 50-footness drop of the tides between high and low.
Makes for some tricky planning though: Fundy's tide times move ahead about 45 minutes every day so if you are a fisherman (or pleasure boater!) at these wharves, you've gotta plan your departure & return times carefully within the tide cycle or stay out in the open bay for up to 12 hrs til the tide comes back in.
Sounds kinda crazy, I know, but that's just ordinary life here in the world's biggest tide bay!
