We like to hike Cape Split at least once a year, and the last few times we have made sure we take friends who have never hiked it before.
As usual this hike did not disappoint. It took us about 3 hours return with a brief rest and snack at the look off. Although the sign at the entrance warned us of coyotes, I'm sure the activity on the trail kept them away, the only wildlife we came across were some friendly dogs enjoying the trail with their owners. Late spring and the fall are our favorite times of the year to visit. In our opinion, the temperature is just right and there are minimal bugs.
As we reached the look off, I couldn't wait to see our friend's reactions. They were not disappointed and took lots of photos. I ventured off by myself for a few moments to sit quietly and enjoy the warmth of the sun as I sat next to the cliffs. Overlooking the Bay of Fundy at Cape Split will never get old.
Top 5 reasons why we love this hike:
1. Level of difficultly is moderate and doesn't take very long.
2. Can be biked if desired.
3. Great spot for a picnic or nap.
4. Amazing view no matter what time of year.
5. Although it has a slight incline on the way in, it makes for a nice return trip.
Added bonus: New parking lot, and more importantly: bathrooms at the entrance of the hike!
Maybe next time, we'll bike it!
