Downtown Halifax - Barrington Street specifically, used to be my neighbourhood. I left my beautiful two bedroom apartment there to buy my first house - in the north end of Halifax. But the thrill of 'going downtown' is still there whenever I head to the heart of the city.
There are many things to see and do on Digby Neck . . . hiking, camping, bird watching and rock hounding to name a few . . . but it is undoubtedly whales that are the biggest attraction.
Immediately upon entering the museum I was amazed with the enormous space, elegant ceiling and my eyes were drawn to the 3300 lbs Fresnal lens high above the rest of the collection. I was especially interested in the vast amount of ships' portraits. There were period rooms dividing the open space and all manner of glass cases filled with artifacts.
